According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office on this morning, the government of Morocco, is planning to suspend import duties both on soft wheat and durum wheat.

The decrees will discuss during a cabinet meeting programmed on next Thursday.

Morocco is currently applying a customs duty of 135% to protect the domestic soft wheat harvest.

However operators, believe that local production, is not enough to meet domestic demand.

It should to note that Morocco controls soft wheat prices but not durum wheat, whose prices recently surged also in the domestic Moroccan market.
