Turkey’s total production of oilseeds (soybean, sunflowerseed and cottonseed) in MY 2021/22 is projected to increase around 18% to 3.1 MMT compared to MY 2020/21, thank’s an improved yields forecast and an increase in planted area. Turkey’s sunflowerseed oil imports and exports went up significantly in MY 2020/21 due an increasing in refining activity. Turkey also increased its crush capacity. Turkey struggles with food inflation due corona virus measures, which is exacerbated by a weak Turkish Lira and high international commodity prices. The Ministry of Agriculture approved new genetically engineered (GE) soybean and #corn events for feed in Jan. and Feb., 2021.
