According to the Ukraine’s infrastructure ministry, all Ukrainian ports, remain temporarily closed to ships seeking to enter or exit.
Ukraine is developing some opportunities to export grain by rail through the western border (Moldova and Romania), the Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko stated.
Association “Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” informed that several Ukrainian agricultural companies have already exported their first batches of several thousand tonnes of feed corn through the western borders of Ukraine.
Land export could provide flow of 600 thsd tonnes of grain per month.
However, Ukraine is likely will be able to export just 200,000 tonnes of wheat from March to June.
Thus, 2021/22 July-June wheat exports would not exceed 18.3 million tonnes, while ending stocks will reach 5.9 million tonnes.
Also, according to R. Leshchenko, “already 20-25% of productivity has been lost.
Ukraine, indeed, is aiming to harvest at least 70% of the last year crop.
The experts of Ukrainian Nation Conservation Group, indeed, have estimated a size of agricultural lands that would not be planted or would be temporary unavailable.
Particularly, UNCG estimated that the zone of risk agriculture covered 202600 km2 or about 34% of the overall Ukrainian territory.
This area includes fields that are not suitable for planting or temporary unavailable.
Currently, 110053 km2 or more than 30% of the arable lands are in the zone of risk agriculture.
That, can be partially compensated only if peace is achieved in the near future and Ukraine is able to logistically provide farmers with fuel and mineral fertilizers, to sow during spring season.
