Daily Market Wire – March 29, 2023

US farm markets were mixed but mostly higher on Tuesday.

Soybean prices jumped 1.77% higher, with soymeal climbing more than 2.65%, and soyoil tracking 0.92% higher.

Wheat found variable gains, as Chicago SRW ended 0.25% higher, KC HRW closed up 1.42%, and MGEX spring wheat ended up by 1.03%.

Corn failed to follow suit, closing with losses of 0.15% at the bell.

In Europe, the rebound in grain prices seems running out as wheat and corn declined slightly, while rapeseed was steady.

Oil prices extended Monday’s gains, on Kurdish supply risks and banking relief.

The BDI dropped to a near 3-week low, down 3.7%.

On Wall Street, US stock indexes posted moderate losses, as higher T-note yields undercut technology stocks.

The DXY fell by -0.4%, as banking concerns subside.

Notably, Chicago wheat May contract was up US1.6 cents to 699.6c/bu;

Kansas wheat May contract was up 12.2c/bu to 872.4c/bu;

Minneapolis wheat May contract was up 9c/bu to 882.4c/bu;

MATIF wheat May contract was down €3.25/t to €263.5/t;

Black Sea wheat Apr contract was down $1/t to $289.25/t;

ASX wheat May contract, was up A$7/t to A$393/t;

US DWI Cash (durum wheat index) was up 1.31c/bu to 852.78c/bu;

1CWAD (Canadian durum) avg reg was up C$1.36/t to C$454.31/t;

EDW (EU durum) May contract was unchanged to €426.25/t;

Chicago corn May down 1c/bu to 647.2c/bu;

MATIF corn Jun was down €1.75/t to €259/t;

Soybeans May contract up 25.4c/bu to 1467.6c/bu;

Winnipeg canola May, was up C$9.2/t to C$762.4/t;

MATIF rapeseed May, was unchanged to €471.75/t;

Brent crude May was up US$0.53 per barrel to $78.65;

WTI crude May was up US$0.39 per barrel to $73.20;

BDI Baltic Dry Index was down 54 points to 1.402;

Dow Jones was down 37.83 points to 32.394,25;

S&P 500 was down 6.26 points to 3.971,27;

NASDAQ Composite down 52.76 points to 11.716,08;

US dollar index (Jun ’23) was down 0.412 to 102.106;

AUD/USD firmer at US$0.6709;

USD/CAD weaker at $1.3598;

EUR/USD firmer at $1.0843;

USD/RUB firmer at ₽76.5667.
